  • a Four rhesus monkeys were infected with SIVmac251 by repeat weekly intrarectal exposures. After 18 exposures, uninfected animals were inoculated via the intravenous route. Periodic plasma viral RNA levels were measured by ultrasensitive branched DNA amplification assay, and T cell subsets were enumerated by flow cytometry. Peak and set point plasma viral RNA levels and set point absolute CD4+ T cell counts are summarized.
