Cover photograph (Copyright © 2007, American Society for Microbiology. At 24 h posttransfection, BGLF4 expression (red), cell morphology (green), and cellular chromosome DNA (blue) were detected by BGLF4 monoclonal antibody, actin-specific antibody, and Hoechst 33258, respectively. A cell expressing BGLF4 shows condensed chromosomes and contracted actin filament bundles. Some condensed chromosomes were left in the protruding portion of the cell, which indicates that EBV BGLF4 expression also induces an incomplete nuclear envelope.
