All Rights Reserved.): Accumulation of simian virus 40 (SV40) virions at the nuclear envelope at a late stage during viral replication. Shortly after nuclear envelope localization of VP1, the host nuclear, endoplasmic reticulum, and plasma membranes become permeabilized, facilitating the release of viral progeny. BS-C-1 cells were infected with SV40, fixed at 72 h postinfection, and immunostained for the viral capsid protein VP1.
