All rights reserved.): TN-368 (Trichoplusia ni) insect cells were infected with recombinant Autographa californica multicapsid nuclear polyhedrosis virus, which lacks the Arif-1 gene. At 6 h postinfection, cells were costained with anti-IE2 antibodies (visualized by fluorescein isothiocyanate fluorescence) and phalloidin (visualized by tetramethyl rhodamine isothiocyanate fluorescence). The early viral factor IE2 serves as a marker for infection and is localized to distinct nuclear structures. In contrast to wild-type virus-infected cells, the phalloidin-stained actin cytoskeleton forms a meshwork which is shown at the basolateral optical section. (See related article on page 3771.)
