About the Cover

Cover photograph (Copyright © 2001, American Society for Microbiology. Images were obtained using confocal immunofluorescence microscopy. The sigma NS protein is colored green, and other reovirus proteins are colored red; colocalization of both proteins is indicated by the yellow color. Reovirus proteins are found throughout the cytoplasm of infected cells and also concentrate in discrete areas within the cytoplasm. The sigma NS protein is found exclusively in inclusions of progeny virions, indicating that this nonstructural protein is found at sites of viral assembly.
