An F-defective Sendai virus vector that is capable of self-replication but incapable of transmissible virion production was injected into an intraventricular region of the rat brain at a dose of 2 × 107 cell infectious units. Shown is a fluorescence photomicrograph of the rat brain taken 4 days after vector injection. Efficient introduction and expression of EGFP are observed in ependymal cells of the lateral ventricle.
